Tackle Holiday Stress by Making Holiday Crafts! 5 to Try Tonight!

I’ve been making some handmade holiday ornaments to fundraise for a good cause – The Scrappy Flower Campaign! Of Course ๐Ÿ™‚

I wanted to choose ornaments to make that reflected the crafty mission of the Scrappy Flower Campaign. In addition, to having some beautiful holiday crafts to sell.

So, I decided to do some crochet ornaments with some high-end yarn scraps I had leftover from my personal knitting and crochet projects.

I didn’t want to let this research go to waste, so I thought I’d share the 5 Crafty Projects that I find work best for someone who wants to create a relaxing, fun evening making holiday gifts for loved ones.

I’ll also share the danger of holiday crafting so you can avoid the pitfalls, and pick a fun, easy to do craft this evening, instead of adding more stress to your day.

I don’t do a lot of crochet, which is a shame, because it is a wonderful, easy to learn craft, that has a low-cost to entry and endless project ideas.

Ravelry.com is a great resource for yarn related patterns and projects.

There’s a ton of free crochet patterns you can try out right now with the search terms “free crochet holiday ornaments”:

Youtube is another great crochet rabbit hole to fall down as well.

They Make a Perfect Craft (& Gift) for the Holidays!

Plus, They’re Super easy and super relaxing to sit and do in front of the TV.

In other words: One episode of Survivor = One Granny Square Done ๐Ÿ™‚

What a productive way to ‘waste’ time! Plus you get to have a gift checked off your Christmas list. win – win IMO!

The Christmas Tree Ornaments I am making are crocheted granny squares in disguise. (also that youtube video alone is a great way to relax. I love her voice!)

Crochet Snowflake Ornament: Was another great YouTube tutorial that produced a beautiful handcrafted ornament, and an enjoyable evening making a bunch!

These make great holiday gifts for friends and coworkers that don’t cost a lot. IMO, this is a much more fun way to do Christmas presents. I’d rather craft than go shopping, anyday! ๐Ÿ™‚

Either way, give these crochet crafts a try.

The danger of holiday crafting, especially when you’re new to crafting or don’t have specific skills or tools, is that it just might ADD STRESS to your evening instead of reducing it.

The total opposite of what you want.

Believe me, I know.

I used leftover yarn from my stash, but if you’re new to crafting and don’t have any yarn or crochet hooks, the dollar store or Michaels will have these supplies, so you can make a bunch for less than $10.

The time and love you put into making these ornaments as gifts will make them a unique and special gift to give to a friend or co-worker.
