My Mission: Promote the Health and Wellness Power of Crafts and Hobbies
The incredible therapeutic value crafts and hobbies can have on your everyday life should not be undervalued.
Over the Last 20 years Crafts & Hobbies Have Helped Me Lose Weight, Quit Smoking (2x! ;), Survive Serious Illness, Work & Unemployment Burnout, & Grief from Personal Loss.
As a crafter over the last 20 years, I have used crafts and hobbies to quit smoking, drink less, find social connections, reduce stress and find joy in an otherwise dreary day.
These last few years have been extra challenging, and I have had to overcome some difficult life challenges including serious illness, work burnout, personal loss, and unemployment. With that came a lot of time spent just trying to survive the day without totally losing it. I wasn’t always successful 🙂
But my Crafts and Hobbies are what helped me through all these times. When I did not have a friend to call or someone to help me when I was sicker than sick, I had my crafts and hobbies to work through the stress and grief.
Crafts and Hobbies are what motivated me to continue on.

So, what? Make a Scrappy Flower & Feel Better?
Yes. I know it sounds like a stupidly simple idea, but yes making something with your hands and engaging your mind creatively, like making a paper flower is a wonderful way to help you overcome bad habits or a bad day. They helped me! They’re cheap and accessible. I’m sure you can find some computer paper right now, and a couple of pens to scribble with.
Go grab them and give scrappy flower making a try! Watch my tutorial on how to make a Scrappy Flower now!
Or don’t. Go make another craft. Scrappy Flowers are just a symbol of what crafting can do.
The Scrappy Flower Campaign is aimed at GETTING YOU CRAFTING! that’s the only way YOU get to experience for yourself the amazing health benefits of crafts.
What craft or hobby do you want to do? Go fall down a YouTube rabbit hole of whatever interests you. Go find a game or a puzzle to get obsessed with for a bit, and take some time to relax and unwind. You’ll feel better. Give your mind a rest, and get your hands busy creating!
Make Something. It helps!

Make a Scrappy Flower!

I made my day better, improved my life, and got over terrible stress by Crafting for My Health. I took a much needed craft break. Made some Scrappy. Flowers. Did some knitting or spinning. Took out my sewing machine and (tried!) to make something on it. I learned how fun origami was to do, and that I’m not very good at painting (or sewing lol). But by taking the time to make something and be creative, it made me feel better. I felt more relaxed. Less cranky (or more cranky with sewing lol), I slept better, and I woke up looking forward to working on my craft project. I made important time for myself and worked on my stuff.
And so should you! So, start with a scrappy flower and go from there!
Have fun! Happy Crafting!
