“I wish you a week of unexpected pleasures!”

This was one of the parting wishes I received from a Scrappy Flower participant yesterday, in my My Scrappy Flowers Pop-up this past Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the South Granville Community Plaza in Vancouver.

What a beautiful thing to say! She told me that her sister says it whenever they end their conversations, and “I always come across wonderful events like yours, and so yes – I do think the unexpected pleasures do pop-up!”

It was such an amazing way to cap off some quality time, crafting in public, connecting with people in the community and making scrappy flowers!

I had such a great time crafting and making scrappy flowers with the participants!

I started The Scrappy Flower Campaign in order to spread the word about how helpful crafts and hobbies are in your life. How they can improve your mood and make you feel better. Just by spending 10 or 20 minutes, scribbling and being creative, you can feel more focused and refreshed.

So, I am thrilled to have created an opportunity for people to sit down and spend a few minutes being playfully creative. I also loved learning more about each person and the arts and crafts they enjoy doing.

I feel like I inspired one or two people to plan more arts and crafts in their day. I was thrilled when one mom told me about how she started to watercolour painting and that she should plan to take her paint set when she takes her baby for a stroll. I hope she does! And I would love to see the paintings made during those craft breaks! 🙂

It’s also a great way to meet people IRL and get out of your own personal bubble for awhile. And off the phone!

I loved the conversations I had, so thanks so much to anyone who sat down and made a scrappy flower. I hope it encouraged you to look for more opportunities in the future to sit down, enjoy the sunshine, and have a craft break!

Feel inspired to be a bit more crafty?

Here’s the Events Calendar for other Vancouver area Crafting events in 2026.

Try making a scrappy flower! 🙂 they’re fun and easy. Even if you just do the scribbling part (or maybe because of it!) you’ll feel more relaxed and refreshed. Believe me, I made myself feel better through crafting, and making these flowers really helped.

I’m disappointed I didn’t take more pictures, but one of The Scrappy Flower Campaign goals is to get people off social media and take a craft break, so I’m not about to make social media a focal point of this campaign. I only take pictures for memories and showing off the beautiful Scrappy Flowers made 🙂

One of the flowers made by a participant. When she gave it to me, I told her I was going to put in on my fridge, it was so cute and I did 🙂

The woman who wished me such a lovely greeting at the end of The Scrappy Flowers Pop-up left me her flower. I told her it earned a spot on my fridge it was so cute. And again, thanks for the lovely sentiment. I look forward to my “week of unexpected pleasures” Especially if it’s crafting related! 🙂

Thanks for reading!

I wish you all a week of unexpected pleasures! And maybe that unexpected pleasure is having fun making a scrappy flower... just saying 😉

Until next time!

Happy Crafting!
